Ingredients
Apple Filling Replacement
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3 Tablespoons water
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons water
Apple Streusel Cobbler
- Apple Filling
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup oats
- 2 eggs
- 1 can (14 oz.) Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk)
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsifted flour
- 1/4 cup cold butter or margarine
Instructions
Apple Filling Replacement
- Melt butter and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in apples, sugar and 3 Tablespoons water. Cover and cook stirring occasionally for 4-6 minutes or until slightly softened.
- In a small dish combine cornstarch and 2 Tablespoons water. Stir into apples and continue to cook until apples are soft and filling is thickened. Let bubble 1 minute. Cool.
Apple Streusel Cobbler
- Heat oven to 375° F. Spread apple filling in greased 9-inch square baking pan.
- In medium bowl, beat eggs. Add sweetened condensed milk, melted margarine, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix well. Pour over apple filling.
- In medium bowl, combine sugar and flour, cut in cold butter or margarine until crumbly. Add nuts and oats. Sprinkle over egg mixture.
- Bake 50-55 minutes or until set. Cool. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.
