2019 Big Apple Salad Challenge

Apples From New York® invites New York apple lovers who want to eat more healthfully in 2019 to enter the New York Big Apple Salad Contest running from January 1 to February 28. The challenge is easy and tasty: Eat at least one salad a day using your favorite New York apple variety and share images and recipes of your salad with NYAA. You could win one of three $500 gift cards! Watch for details at www.applesfromny.com.

“Whatever your health goal – eating cleaner, feeling better, losing weight –salads are a deliciously easy way to eat better without sacrificing flavor or satisfaction,” says NYAA President Cynthia Haskins. “Apples add crunch, texture and flavor – as well as nutrients and fiber-related fullness – to any salad. Plus, apple cider and cider vinegar make great salad dressings!”

To inspire people to take the New York Big Apple Salad Challenge, NYAA will post some apple salad recipes to motivate the taste buds – recipes like “New York Apple Slaw with Sweet and Sour Cider Dressing” and “New York Grilled Apple Salad” which features a tangy cider mustard vinaigrette dressing.

“Eating clean means eating more of the best, healthiest foods – and less of the not-so-healthy ones. It means eating whole foods,” added Haskins. “Eating clean doesn’t just make you feel better about the food you’re eating, it actually makes you feel better.”
